Well this might not be a hot property, but I think it would be considered a hot commodity. It is time for me to part ways with my beloved car (Wom). We have spent close to five years together and had some great times. However, it is time for Wom to continue those memories and provide joy and excitement to someone new. Here are the details:

The f*%&ing HST

BC's Finance Miniater Kevin Falcon has finally announced the details of the HST rollback on new homes.

It looks like the government finally listened to our complaints and will raise its new-housing HST rebate threshold to $850,000 from the current $525,000, until it is finally scrapped on April 1 next year.

It will also introduce a similar rebate for new recreational and secondary homes built outside of greater Vancouver and Victoria, to stimulate that market until the tax is gone.

Starting on April 1 this year, the government will provide a partial HST rebate on new homes priced at up to $850,000. The amount of the rebate will max out at $42,500, will apply to more than 90-per-cent of new homes, and will mean new home prices will be roughly the same under HST and PST. The HST does not apply on re-sale homes.

Today marks the end of an era – poor Steve Jobs succumbed to cancer. I have been rocking an iphone since they were first released. I’ve recently become a fan of the ipad. And, I’ve switched from a PC to a mac at home. Oh, I almost forgot about my apple TV and assortment of ipods. I guess that makes me a bit of an apple guy. His vision helped shape apple into one of the biggest companies in the world and helped define our decade. So in his honour, I thought I would post a blog about something apple related.

There are plenty of people much more tech savvy than me out there, so I thought I would write about my latest apple product... my iwallet. That’s right! My iphone sits nice and secure in my wallet. My wife came home with it one day and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now, I never leave home without my phone or my wallet. I have no idea where she got it, but here are a couple options I found online:

Windsurfing

Board rentals are available at the Jericho Sailing Centre. Call Windsure Windsurfing at604-224-0615. Windsurfers are required to launch and land their windsurfers between the yellow buoys only at Locarno and Kitsilano Beaches. Windsurfers and boats must stay at least 300m away from swimming beaches. Kitesurfing is not allowed on Vancouver beaches.

Kayaking

Ecomarine offers kayak rentals and tours from the English Bay Bathhouse from June to September. Call 604-689-7575 for details and to make reservations.

Indoor secure storage space is available year round for kayaks at the English Bay Bathhouse. Contact 604-684-4922 for details.

Access for Persons with a Disability

Generally, there are two beach wheelchairs available for public use - one is at Jericho Beach and the other at English Bay. There are also 'Path' kits for wheelchairs located at English Bay. Phone 604-738-8535 to make sure the equipment is available for your use at those locations.

1. Mua

Mua was designed with lovers in mind. The organic shape invokes the idea of two people intertwined, embracing each other. Wicker wrapped steel on the outside, red for love in the inside. Mua dangles from a tree suspended for all voyeurs to see and at the perfect angle – looks like a giant heart shaped pendant. Implying love in a design can border the esoteric to the ridiculous but I think the Mua strikes the perfect balance. I just hope those red covers are washable because. . . well, I’m not gonna go there.

Loopita allows a number of seating configurations that resemble concrete tunnel spaces that so many kids fancy.
